Donald asks…
who is the girl in the San Diego Home Cooking ads?
shes the blonde, has an accent sorta

Herschel Lawhorn answers:
Mel is one of the owners. Her accent is Serbian. Though they have Hungarian specials… So, maybe she is from Hungary? Anyway, she can be seen at some of their restaurants.

Sharon asks…
what are some great food blog names?
I’m looking for a creative food blog name. My blog will consist of restaurant reviews, recipes I try out from home and photos of the food. I want my blog to be funny and eye catching. I wanted to use the name “young & hungry” but it’s already taken. I was thinking “what’s cooking san diego?” but I’ll be cooking at home too so not sure if that’d fit. Do you have any good ideas?
I’m 18.
I live in San Diego.
I am currently pursuing an associates degree in culinary arts & management.

Carol asks…
San Diego vs Seattle?
My boyfriend and I are living in Mesa, AZ and finishing up school but want to move to either Seattle or San Diego. We are absolutely sick of the 118 degree heat in AZ with so winters to speak of and the constant sun that drains you so you never want to leave your a/c home.
We’re sort of leaning more towards Seattle, especially with San Diego prices but I would love to hear your opinions of pros and cons. We want the city life and would love to live downtown; I’ve already been looking up some apartments online.
Background: We’re 28 & 29 years old, no kids, no pets (but would love to get a small dog after we move!), we LOVE music, movies, cooking, having a night life but also having outdoorsy stuff to do too. I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist and he is a Radiologic Technologist so we’re both in the health care fields.
We’re looking for a fantastic city to start our lives together where the housing prices are reasonable, there is alot to do, the city is clean/safe and where we can just enjoy life!!

Herschel Lawhorn answers:
I lived in Phoenix for 3 years so I totally understand you and the heat! Screw thaaaaat! Well since you made it a point to mention affordability twice, I don’t think San Diego would be good for you. I had so many friends in Phoenix who moved them FROM San Diego because it was just a complete rip off to live there. It’s up there with LA and NY. And I personally don’t think it’s worth it. Everyone says how great the weather is, I’ve been there 5 times in the summer and it was always like 70 and cloudy, that’s not perfect weather to me.
Seattle is gorgeous, especially downtown. It’s not cheap like Phoenix but it’s sure as hell cheaper than San Diego. And the winter is not too bad, I was there for Christmas and it was still a reasonable 45 degrees out, not freezing. Great music scene and lots of people your age. That would be my opinion.
I live in Boston and would recommend it in a heartbeat because I love love love it. Except for affordability, which is about the same as San Diego.
